  • My first geocaching adventure!

Today I went on my first geocaching hunt! I've been wanting to go for awhile now and when my friend Becky called me up this morning and asked if I wanted to go with her and her husband I certainly said yes! We picked six different caches to hunt for at the Greenlawn Cemetery here in Columbus as a kind of pre-halloween scare fest... though, it wasn't very scary during the middle of the day lol. Of the six sights we found five, which by my count isn't so bad! The one cache we couldn't seem to find may have been gone. The tree we thought it could be hiding in had just had a huge branch blown off of it in the heavy winds we had last week and it had been awhile since anyone had logged it. *shrugs* I hope it turns up.

This was the first cache we found, unfortunately I didn't know that you could bring little trinkets along and leave them in the caches sad But there was some pretty cool stuff in there!

I had to crawl inside a tangle of a bush for this one! Of course, I only went looking for it after Tony assured me there was no poison ivy! >.<

This is the tree we were pretty sure was hiding the cache we had no luck with. There were lots of huge fir trees around the cemetery, some of these trees are probably a hundred or more years old!

We spent a lot of time looking for one of the caches, and for awhile thought these windchimes were it, lol.

But, this was the real cache, cleverly concealed inside a dragonfly container, very cute.

All in all, I had a great time and I can't wait to go again!! happy

  • Week 6, Day 4 of Couch-to-5K

    -177 pounds

    -5 minute stretch

    -Brisk 5 minute warmup walk

-jogged 15 minutes, walked 3 minutes, jogged 5 minutes

-5 minute cooldown walk for a total of 33 minutes

    -10 pushups

    -40 crunches

    -15 minute stretch

I find myself in limbo land here at the end of week 6. I can't yet jog a whole 25 minutes straight yet to graduate on to week 7. I can make it to about 15 minutes before I have to stop and take a walk break. I'm not worried, I'll reach 25 minutes when I can, pushing myself too hard too soon will only hurt me in the long run. Week 6 seems to ramp up a lot more a lot faster than past weeks and I know that its gonna feel great once I can make the 25 minutes!

I didn't sleep very good last night and I could tell when I was out running today. That 8 minute jog was a real challenge, just wanted to walk home afterwards but I managed to stay with it. Now though, I feel like laying down on the floor and taking a nap, post jog stinky-ness and all. Also I did a week 5, day 3 "sorta kinda" thing on Saturday, lol. I mentioned that we were heading down to Cinci to visit family this past weekend? Well we stayed with my in-laws Friday night and Saturday morning I got up to run and bumped into my grandmother (who currently lives in the same neighborhood) who was out with her dog for their morning walk. So instead of day 3 I ended up walking with her for about 45 minutes all over the neighborhood, which was actually just as much of a workout! All in all it was a good weekend, got to see my parents, my grandma, all of my husband's family, and we had a gamenight with our friends Sunday evening. Good times. happy

-5 minute cooldown walk for a total of 31 minutes

    -20 pushups

    -50 crunches

    -25 arm raises

    -15 minute stretch

Had another great run today! I'm really starting to feel more confident about the whole thing. When I first started I was really wondering if I'd make it through the whole program, but now I think that I'm going to make it just fine, and I'm starting to notice that I've slimmed down a little even if my overall weight isn't showing it much. I hope that just means my leg muscles are starting to come back, lol. But anyway, my jeans are a little loose on me, and well the last time I was wearing them that wasn't the case, heh. The husband and I are eating better too and that's going to start having an impact soon. We're not only eating healthier but we're eating smaller portions. We both had that "clean your plate" mentality instilled in us as kids, so we've always been good about cleaning our plates, even if we put waaaay too much food on the plate, lol. So to solve that problem... just put less food on your plate!!

So I got a little behind with this week, the holiday weekend threw me off, but we certainly had fun. My grandfather's annual family picnic was this past Sunday, its always this huge outdoor pig roast at their house out in the boonies. My brother took first place in the horseshoe tournament and my dad took second, and my husband took second in the cornhole tournament. I think me and my partner ended up in like fourth or something, oh well, I think I did good having not thrown in a couple of years lol.

Anywho, today's run was fantastic. Last week I was worried that week 5 might be a little much, but then I was still running in that terrible, muggy heat. Well let me tell you, autumn has arrived with a vengeance! Its been in the 60s all week and cloudy and mostly rainy. Its amazing how much of an impact that had on my run today, I had no issues with my breathing and I didn't feel like falling over halfway through the run like I did all last week. I'm very happy with how the run went earlier and depending on how my legs feel tomorrow I'll probably do day 2 then and day 3 on Saturday when we are visiting family down near Cinci. Saturday is my niece's first birthday! happy
